Jan Wilding
BWY.Dip. I.T. E.C.,
I.P.T.I.
“As a therapist dedicated to holistic health it is my
aim to provide a safe, ethical and secure space in which people can grow
– through their hearts, minds and through their physical body”
Jan is an experienced British
Wheel of Yoga teacher, a Foundation Course tutor and Holistic Massage
therapist with over 26 years experience both in the UK and abroad. Jan
trained with the British Wheel of Yoga but has practiced & studied with
many different traditions, disciplines and holistic therapies in the
field of Yoga and Personal Development. The most influential have
included Ram Dass, an ex-professor of psychology at Harvard, the Bihar
School of Yoga and the teachings of Swami Satyananda, the Kripalu Yoga
Centre in Massachusetts and John Stirk a Yoga teacher & osteopath, whose
teaching is influenced by Vanda Scaravelli. However, for the last two
years, and ongoing, Jan has received individual tuition from Paul Harvey
who for 23 years was taught directly by TKV Desikachar.
As a result of a back injury as a teenager and with the onset of
menopause, Jan's yoga has now become a lifestyle that reflects the
importance of developing core strength through a safe, relaxed approach
to freeing the body and mind. Because no two bodies are the same and no
two people will be 'feeling' a posture in the same way, Jan teaches in
small classes or 1-1, so that she can give attention to the needs of
each individual.
Over the years Jan has taught both Yoga and massage for the Adult
Education Department, worked in sports and health centres, as well as
with staff in hospitals. She also has experience in mainstream
Education, working with whole school policy on pupil behavior and
general stress management, both in the primary and secondary sectors.
During this time she wrote a book for Gloucestershire Education
Authority entitled "Relaxation within the Classroom".
Jan now teaches general yoga classes, specialist pregnancy yoga,
relaxation classes as well as Foundation Courses in and around
Cirencester, Gloucestershire. She is also co-owner of Le Côtil in
Normandy, France, where she takes yoga students for retreats, short
breaks and holidays and co-facilitates 'Lifesound' holidays. |
