Winter Dreams

The composition of this piece was influenced by the music of Schubert. Schubert was writing in the early days of the Industrial Revolution.  Tradition was being overturned by modern technologies but magic and nature still maintained a presence if one was prepared to look.  A performance of Winter Dreams invokes recurring persistent dream-like images; mysterious equestrian forces, Turner imagery, sea-battles and shipwrecks and the moon standing guard.  A blanket of snow threatens to smother us and the path through the woodland never comes to an end.
